"Release" came about as I struggled through working on this painting.  I paint intuitively with no preconception ideas so sometimes it takes me awhile to find a direction that I want to go in.  This painting has layers and layers of paint as I worked through this process.  At one point, I got frustrated so I decided to leave it alone and work through some ideas in my sketchbook instead.  While the sketchbook exercise didn't turn out as I had planned, it gave me the space to relax and not be concerned about outcome.  I think this served me well because when I was done with the sketchbook, this painting came through.  It felt like a release from all my frustration and I came to it from a calm and open place.

This painting is 36"H X 36" W X 1.5" D on gallery wrapped canvas with sides painted black. It was painted with acrylic paints.  It is wired and ready to hang. It will be coated with a gloss varnish to protect from dust.
