This painting took many turns. There is at least 5 different paintings beneath its layers.  It had many stories to tell but none of them seemed quite right.  I just kept going.  I knew that if I trusted my process, I'd eventually come out with something I was pleased with.  There were times of frustration, of elation and back to frustration.  I left it alone for days on end waiting for the spark of inspiration to come back.  As if in the deep sea, I kept treading my way back to shore all the while keeping my head above water.  I think it's a good analogy for the hard parts in life.  We have to still keep going, head above water to the other side of darkness to get back to the light.

This painting is 36" H X 48" W X 1.5" on gallery wrapped canvas with sides painted black. It was painted with acrylic paints and has some charcoal markings. It is wired and ready to hang. It will be coated with a gloss varnish to protect from dust.
