I started this painting while I was feeling really tired and burned out.  I use painting as a way to process my feelings and thoughts that I can't put into words.  In the dark areas of this painting, you can see where I went to town on it with lots of organic marks and movement. I got out whatever I was feeling in paint.  As I continued to work on the painting, I started to mellow out and you can see that as the softness around the dark areas are light and airy.  By the end of the paint session, I was feeling great and rested.  Painting is a form of self-care for me.

"Breaking Open" is 24"H X 36" W X 1.5" painted with artist grade acrylics and has markings with oil pencil. It's on gallery wrapped canvas with sides painted black. It is wired and ready to hang. It will be coated with a gloss varnish to protect from dust.
